The "Heraea - Pythagoras" Festival is an institution with the main point of reference being the values of the culture of ancient Ionia, but also the historical continuity of Hellenism for at least 5,000 years in the wider Aegean region.
The festival program includes philosophical and scientific conferences, theatrical performances, musical evenings, and art events, aimed at highlighting the local culture and civilization of Samos, while simultaneously building bridges with cultural events, mainly of the Mediterranean. A special moment is the reenactment of the ancient festival of Heraia, which took place in Samos 2400 years ago and was related to the worship of the goddess Hera. The Heraia are held under the auspices of the Greek National Commission for UNESCO and the Association of Greek Olympic Winners and offer visitors an experiential experience of connection with the historical memory of Samos.
