Image
The Chortarolimni wetland of Lemnos is a place of natural wealth and protected biodiversity. Part of the Natura 2000 network, it serves as a vital refuge for rare and threatened plant and animal species. Its rich flora includes plants such as sea daffodils, while its fauna features rare avifauna with many endemic species. Rare migratory birds use Chortarolimni as a stopover to rest, breed, and overwinter—such as pink flamingos, partridges, fig-eaters, owls, falcons, egrets, herons, ferruginous ducks and many others, as well as frogs.
